There's a version of this blog post where I tell you that we're launching five new Body Wash Bars because the timing was perfect, the range was ready, and everything fell neatly into place. And while all of that is true — I should also be honest with you about something else.
Round soaps are, objectively, a bit of a headache to produce at scale.
Why They're "Bad for Business"
Here at Janni Bars, almost everything is built around efficiency — batching ingredients, stacking production days, maximising every pour. Square and loaf-cut bars slot neatly into that system. They stack. They cut cleanly. They package predictably. They are, in the language of small business production, sensible.
Round bars are none of those things. They take individual moulds. They're slower to produce. Packaging them requires more thought. And from a purely logical, margin-focused standpoint, they probably shouldn't exist in our range at all.
And yet. Here we are.
Why We're Doing It Anyway
Because some things matter more than the spreadsheet.
Our shampoo bars and conditioner bars are round. They've always been round. And for a while now, I've wanted the body bar to match — not just in spirit, but in shape. When everything in your shower is the same form, something shifts. It stops feeling like a collection of individual products and starts feeling like a routine. A considered one. A set that was designed to belong together.
That's the vision behind these new Body Wash Bars. A complete shower range — shampoo, conditioner, body — all in the same beautiful round format. Cohesive, intentional, and genuinely lovely to look at on a shelf.
The Five New Bars
Each bar is formulated around a specific skin need or mood — because your skin isn't the same every day, and your shower routine doesn't have to be either.
Calming — Unscented with Goat Milk & Honey Fragrance-free and gentle, this is the bar for troubled, reactive or sensitive skin. Goat milk soothes while honey brings its naturally softening qualities to the lather. Simple, honest, and kind.
Softening — Lemon, Lavender & Silk A classic combination with a luxurious twist. The fresh lift of lemon, the calm of lavender, and the silky skin feel that raw silk brings to the bar. Perfect for dry skin that needs a little extra attention.
Restoring — Pink Grapefruit & Pink Clay Bright, fresh and grounding. Pink grapefruit lifts the senses while pink clay gently draws out impurities for a cleanse that feels thorough without being harsh. For skin that needs a reset.
Reviving — Cherry Blossom Light, floral and quietly uplifting. The Cherry Blossom scent is the kind that lingers softly — not overwhelming, just present. A bar for the mornings when you need a gentle nudge in the right direction.
Refreshing — Coconut Clean, warm and familiar. The Coconut bar is the one you reach for without thinking — a comforting, everyday lather that leaves skin feeling soft and subtly scented. Uncomplicated in the best possible way.
And the Classics Aren't Going Anywhere
If you're a fan of our original artisan bars — the Milk & Honey, Seaweed, Turmeric, Stout and the rest — they're still very much here. You'll find them under the new Artisan Soap Bars tab on the website, sitting exactly where they belong: the giftable, sensory, beautiful end of the Janni Bars range. Same bars, same recipes, same favourites — just a clearer home.
A Note on Tonight
If you're reading this on Wednesday — Janni Bars is being featured on RTÉ Nationwide this evening. The segment was filmed back in January, and I'll be honest, it's been quite a thing to hold quietly while the rest of life kept moving.
I arrived in Ireland in 2001. I moved here permanently in 2010. And now, a few years and a lot of soap batches later, I'm on one of the country's most beloved programmes, talking about something I built from scratch. That's not something I take lightly.
Thank you for being part of this. Whether you've been here from the early days or you're finding us for the first time today — welcome. The range is growing, the shower shelf is coming together, and we're just getting started.
— Janni
